"First
Pleasure Class"
John Grabski rode in his first Western Pleasure Class at the Dusty Boots
Saddle Club in Madison, Ohio at the age of six. Thirty-some years later,
the passion for Western Pleasure horses is still central to the Grabski
family. John's wife Stacey began showing horses at an early age as well,
successfully showing Hunt Seat and Western Pleasure Horses in Western
Pennsylvania. The horses and horse shows eventually brought the two
together and they were married in 1988.
"A
Quarter Horse Family"
Jack Grabski, (John's father) has been in the horse business in one
form or another all of his life. In 1969 Jack purchased the notable
cutting horse stallion, Poco Dan Fleet from Roy Ladd in Norman,
Oklahoma. A successful breeding showing and training business was built
around the stallion and his offspring. As Cripple Creek Quarter Horses
grew, Jack & John began breaking & training colts for the public
and John collected his first months training check for $140.00 at age
15. In those days, training horses was not limited to Quarter Horses
so it gave John the opportunity to ride nearly all breeds, shapes and
sizes of horses. Quality also varied greatly which led to a sharp appreciation
for good horses with natural ability. By age 24, John had ridden 300
colts for a minimum of 30 days each. The work was hard but the education
was priceless. Over the years John has owned or been involved with several
notable horses' careers, including World Champion stallion Cody's
Grand Man and The Burgundy Jet, the first Superior Western
Pleasure son of Hotrodders Jet Set. Jack and his wife Susan,
also a successful show horse person, are still involved in the horse
industry. They reside in Pennsylvania, where they stand their stallion,
The Pink Jetsetter by Hotrodders Jet Set.
Stacey's
family, Fred, Katherine, Brett and Becky Jensen, have been involved
breeding, training, and showing Paint and Quarter Horses in Western
Pennsylvania for over 25 years.
"Down
to Business
.and back to Horses"
An auto accident forced John to take a desk job from a good
friend in the electronics industry in his early twenties. Over the next
17 years John started several successful electronics companies, one
manufacturing company, one software company, got married, had four children,
ran the Boston Marathon and graduated from Harvard Business School.
Meanwhile, John & Stacey remained focused on building the ranch
now called GQH. It was a fairly busy time.
"GQH"
Today, Grabski Quarter Horses is focused on breeding and selling the
highest quality western pleasure futurity prospects possible. That's
all we do.
